I keep waiting for God’s sovereignty to overwhelm me and make me incapable of living in myself, filthy in sin. How foolishly I've forgotten about the balance between His sovereignty and the responsibility He has given me in Him.
As someone who professes belief in Jesus Christ and the Truth found in Him and the Bible...We just have to live in Christ. Just live in Him, make decisions, take action, change, but all in him.
It's ALL about Him. This is real Christianity simplified. He lives through us.
Faith without works is dead. So...Works are clearly important, but they MUST come from Faith.
IF we Love Him, we WILL Obey Him. Right?
Is it then wrong to, in Faith, Obey Him with our flawed love believing that authentic Love will manifest by His grace?
Since He has revealed all of these truths…and we’re conscious of our situation and the Truth…I believe it is eternally best if we just choose to obey by His grace through faith.
Of course, we can't make this choice apart from Him, because apart from Him we can do nothing. That is, whatever we do apart from is nothing.
Only in Him am I capable of living out the life I desire and that He requires. However, since He has placed me in Him, He is now living in me and I am living in Him. Because of this, I can be confident that, when I step out to obey in faith and out of love for Him, He is able to perform that work in and through me. He, Jesus Christ, is my confidence and my source. I no longer need to flounder about sinfully waiting for Him to do something apart from me. I am a part of Him and He is in me. This reality makes me able to do all things.
I really can. He said so.

If it wasn't for His life in us, we wouldn't be able to step out in faith to obey at all. The only reason we could genuinely even WANT to obey Him is a result of Christ's life and love being placed in us. Therefore, if we are in Christ we can naturally rely on the new nature (which is Christ) to walk out this life without weighing and checking every little thing, but we can be confident that it is Christ. (Not that we shouldn't weigh things, because we MUST test all things and hold fast to what is good, to what is Christ, because ONLY Christ is good)
ReplyDeleteBut, as it is written,
ReplyDelete"What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him"
these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.
The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. "For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ.
